It's more like a prescription for physical therapy, where you go to an appointment, the therapist does some work on you, some of it painful, and then you go home and have exercises you must do yourself.

    It's not a book to read cover-to-cover in a few sittings. It's more like a workbook. Read a section or a chapter, reflect on it, answer the questions, talk about it with your support system.
